Setting up Printer LAN Using the Control Panel

This section explains how to set the printer name, TCP/IP, DNS server and proxy server required for network connection.

Making General Network Settings

Note:
Do not turn off the power or unplug the printer while making settings on the control panel.
Setting network while accessing the memory card may interrupt access.
This setting, and the DNS server/Proxy server address setting, is not available for all printers or may not be enabled.
Turn on the printer.
Enter the Setup mode.
Select Network Settings.
Select General Network Setup.
Confirm the printer name.
The printer name is used to access or identify the printer on the network.
Note:
The default setting is “EPSONXXXXXX” (X: Last 6 digits of the MAC address). To change the printer name, retype the text.
Set TCP/IP Setup settings.
Normally, the broadband router or access point will automatically allocate an IP address to the printer using the DHCP function. If your router (or access point) DHCP function is on, select Auto.
Note:
To assign a unique IP address to the printer, select Manual, and enter the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway.
Set the DNS server. DNS server and proxy server settings are not available for all printers or may not be enabled.
Normally, the broadband router or access point will automatically allocate a DNS server address to the printer. To use this option, select Auto.
Note:
To specify the DNS server address, select Manual, and enter the Primary DNS Server and Secondary DNS Server addresses.
Set the proxy server address.
Select Do Not Use.
Note:
To use the proxy server, select Use, and enter the Proxy Server address and Port.

Setting up a wireless LAN using the Setup Wizard

You can simplify manual setup by using the Setup Wizard.
For information on setting up a Wi-Fi connection using the printer panel, see "Panel Setting Guidance for Wi-Fi Connection" in the top menu of this Guide.
Select Wireless LAN Setup.
Select Setup Wizard.
Note:
When a memory card is inserted in the printer, a warning message may be displayed. If a message appears, check the message and then click OK.
Select SSID.
Note:
If a wireless network is not found, a warning message is displayed. Check the LAN environment being used, return to Wireless LAN Setup, and try again. To enter the SSID manually, select Other SSIDs... at the end of the SSID list.
Enter the security key set in the router.

WPS Wireless auto setup

If the access point supports the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) standard, security settings can be made automatically.
Note:
This setting is not available for all printers or may not be enabled.
Verify that the access point is turned on and communication is available.
Enter the Setup mode.
Select Network Settings.
Select Wireless LAN Setup.
Note:
When a memory card is inserted in the printer, a warning message may be displayed. If a message appears, check the message and then click OK.
The printer supports the WPS push button method and the WPS PIN code method. The procedure varies between methods.
Note:
For details on the access point WPS function or troubleshooting, see the access point’s user’s guide.
If the access point (wireless router) is not discovered within approximately two minutes, an error message is displayed. In that case, make sure the access point is operating, and then make the WPS settings again from the beginning.

Push Button mode setup

Select Push Button Setup (WPS) (Push Button (WPS) for 1.5 inch LCDs), and then press OK.
If the warning message screen appears, check the message and then select Yes.
Press an access point WPS button (or the corresponding button) to set WPS.
Note:
For the location of the WPS button, see the access point’s (wireless router’s) user’s guide. Please note that in some cases this will be a software setting for the router rather than a physical button.
Wait until preparation for establishing communication with the access point is complete (ex. the WPS light is flashing) and then press OK.
Note:
It may take time for WPS Wireless auto setup to finish correctly. Wait until the setting completion message appears.
When the completion message screen appears, press OK.

PIN Code mode setup

Note:
The PIN code registration method varies depending on the access point (wireless router). See the access point’s (wireless router’s) user’s guide.
Select PIN Code Setup (WPS) (PIN Code (WPS) for 1.5 inch LCDs).
If a warning message screen appears, check the message and then select OK.
Register the PIN code displayed on the LCD panel to the access point within two minutes, and then press OK.
Note:
It may take time for WPS Wireless auto setup to finish correctly. Wait until the setting completion message appears.
Depending on the access point, the method for entering the PIN code varies. For details, see the access point’s user’s guide.
When the completion message screen appears, press OK.
